Eastern Ontario Development Program (EODP)

Through the past five federal budgets the Government of Canada has made a $48.2 million investment in the rural communities of south eastern Ontario.  These funds are intended to assist these communities to increase their capacity to be successful environments for business development.

Much of this funding is supporting a common program of initiatives being delivered to the eligible communities by the local CFDC.

The following summarizes the various aspects of the Eastern Ontario Development Program.  Click on the links below for program details and applications*.

Business Development Fund

Business Planning Program- up to $5,000 of support to local businesses using outside consultants to prepare a business, marketing or export plan

Youth Retention and Attraction Program - 100% support, to a maximum of $2,500 per month, for a Not-for-Profit employing a Youth Intern for a new project.  50% support, to a maximum of $15,000, for a For Profit company employing a Youth Intern for a new project

Skills Development Program - matching fund training grants to a maximum of $5,000 per employee or $25,000 per company

Community Development Fund

Local Initiatives Program - up to $10,000 of support for municipalities or not-for-profits undertaking a new project.  These approvals are done at the community level

Community Capacity Program - larger projects where the contribution from the EODP will exceed $10,000.  These projects are first are approved locally for submission to the Government of Canada for final approval

Access to Capital Fund

Retrofit Program - deferred interest loans for retrofitting/renovating unutilized, or under utilized, existing commercial, industrial or retail space.  Funds may also be used for "environmental retrofits" and "street-scaping" initiatives
