Business Registration (Ontario Business Connects)

The Ontario Business Connects (OBC) Kiosk allows clients to register a new business, either as a Proprietorship or Partnership, or renew an existing registration, at our offices and receive their Master Business License immediately.  Clients can also search potential business names to see if they are already in use in Ontario.

Businesses that sell provincially taxable goods (PST) or are required to register for Workers Safety and Insurance Board coverage can also complete these registrations through the OBC Kiosk.

Key Benefits

  • The process is typically fast, taking less than 15 minutes.
  • There is no waiting for the Master Business License to arrive in the mail.
  • This process is more cost effective than the other options for business registration.

Cost

The service is available at our location Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.  No appointment is required.  The cost of registering a business is $60.00, payable by cash, cheque or credit card (no debit).  A name search costs an additional $8.00 per name searched.

Capabilities

The system can immediately provide the business operator with the key document required to establish a business bank account.

The system can facilitate registering a business to receive a Vendor's Permit for provincial sales tax or to participate in the WSIB program.

The system allows a prospective business operator to search the Government of Ontario's database of currently registered businesses to ensure that the name being registered is not already in use in the market area.
